Hovnanian\u2019s Four Seasons at Kent Island<\/a>. The 55+ community is conveniently located near Maryland\u2019s Western Shore and its urban attractions but maintains a sense of peaceful seclusion along a quiet stretch of the Eastern Shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ideal Location<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Garnet and her husband Tom were two of the first people to call K. Hovnanian\u2019s Four Seasons at Kent Island their home. The couple moved into their new house this past June after selling their home in South Bethany, Delaware. Garnet said she followed the community for about 20 years, ever since she learned that K. Hovnanian was bringing Four Seasons to Kent Island. They like being near the Western Shore\u2019s city attractions without giving up the slower, quieter Eastern Shore life. \u201cWe get all of that here on Kent Island,\u201d Roy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents of Kent Island are immersed in nature. \u201cThe place is crawling with wildlife,\u201d said Roy. In his time living there, he has seen an eight-point buck, two bald eagles, ospreys, foxes, herds of deer, and migrating geese and ducks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>High-Quality Construction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When considering Kent Island, Garnet and Tom were not only attracted to the community\u2019s location but also to its high-quality construction. Tom, himself an engineer, said he was particularly pleased with the speed, expertise, and professionalism of the construction team. Hovnanian&#8217;s Four Seasons at Kent Island<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom said the Lille is spacious and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to move around in. When it came time for construction, Garnet and Tom found the crew members to be communicative and accommodating. \u201cAll the upgrades K. Hovnanian offered were reasonable,\u201d Garnet said. She and Tom were able to add shiplap and extra outlets, and also had a door moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roy and Vicky knew that when they retired they wanted a high-quality new construction home. Roy, who had a career in construction, said he likes to watch the building process as new houses go up on his street. \u201cThese are very well-constructed homes,\u201d he said. \u201cThis community is going up quickly not because the construction crew is sloppy or cutting corners, but because it has a real handle on the production schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After selling their old house, Roy and Vicky toured a Quick Move-In (QMI) home at Kent Island, put down a deposit, and were able to move in within 30 days. They had been working with another builder when they realized the QMI design suited them better and was available much sooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Responsive Management<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the whole, Garnet and Roy love their homes and community\u00ad, but they don\u2019t deny that issues have cropped up here and there. That\u2019s where Kent Island\u2019s management team comes in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Roy first moved into his home, the irrigation system was behind schedule and for a time Roy watered his lawn himself, increasing his monthly bills. Despite the setback, he was able to work with Kent Island\u2019s Community Manager, Doug Shipe, who made sure Roy\u2019s water bill was paid for and that any resulting dead plants were replaced. \u201cIt\u2019s a community that has earned my trust and respect through its actions,\u201d Roy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garnet said she was particularly pleased with how the construction process was managed. She and Tom were able to go through Kent Island\u2019s Homeowners Association (HOA) to arrange having a walled patio built so they could safely have their two dogs outside with them. \u201cIf there are any issues, they get taken care of immediately,\u201d Tom said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rich Community Life<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While Kent Island homeowners have plenty of space for privacy, they also have access to a number of social activities. \u201cThere\u2019s yoga, there\u2019s a book club that\u2019s starting, there\u2019s a walking club, there\u2019s a coffee club, there\u2019s Mahjong,\u201d Garnet said. \u201cYou could be busy here every day of the week if you wanted to be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"655\" src=\"https:\/\/www.khov.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-1024x655.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1436\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-1024x655.jpg 1024w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-300x192.jpg 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-768x492.jpg 768w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-1536x983.jpg 1536w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-409x262.jpg 409w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/1st-Annual-Chili-Cook-off-10.181-1600x1024.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>A recent chili cook-off hosted at the community<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She added that while she enjoys the activities, she doesn\u2019t feel badgered to attend an event if it\u2019s not for her. Tom also joked that because activities don\u2019t cost anything extra, \u201cYou don\u2019t feel like you\u2019re stiffing yourself if you miss something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roy said that he and his wife know almost everybody at Kent Island by name, including Garnet and Tom. Roy joked, \u201cIf you\u2019d have asked me 25 years ago what a 55+ community would be I\u2019d say, \u2018Who in the world would ever want to live there?\u2019 But I have to tell you, this is absolutely the place to live.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>To learn more about K.
