Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, situated 15 miles south in McKinney, spans 289 acres and encompasses 50 acres of wetlands along with a 2-acre native plant garden. The museum offers families the opportunity to engage with nature through its 5 miles of hiking trails, a captivating butterfly house, live animal encounters, educational programs, seasonal events, and a variety of engaging indoor and outdoor exhibits.
