Located near the border of North and South Carolina, Charlotte/Douglas International serves as a gateway to the world for the Charlotte Region.Owned and operated by the City of Charlotte, Charlotte/Douglas averages 550 daily flights and 23 million passengers annually.
It is CATS' philosophy that the transit system should and can share the responsibility for improving the quality of life throughout the Charlotte region. CATS currently serves MecklenburgCounty, in addition to providing service to the City of Concord in CabarrusCounty and the City of Gastonia in GastonCounty. CATS has also begun serving the Town of Mooresville in IredellCounty and the Town of Rock Hill in York County.
A Light Rail Transit system is already approved for the South Corridor, from Charlotte to Pineville. Four other major traffic corridors are being studied, as well as the CenterCity itself, the termination point of all five corridors.
