The Atrium Furniture Mall This mall features over 20 distinctive galleries representing almost 700 furniture lines. Styles include Shaker, 18th Century European, Traditional, Ultra-modern, Contemporary, and everything in between. Many stores offer interior design service and all provide nationwide shipping. Castle McCulloch & The Crystal Garden The Castle is a restored gold refinery listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Built in 1823 and restored in mid-1980, the Castle is a granite structure complete with drawbridge, moat, and 70-foot tower. The Crystal Garden, built in 1997, is reminiscent of Victorian times with beveled glass walls, crystal chandelier, and a lovely veranda with a commanding view of the Castle across the lake. This beautiful secluded property is used for weddings/receptions, corporate events and other celebrations. Visitors can enjoy seasonal activities, including gem and gold panning, historical tours, and bridal festivals. Office hours: Mon-Fri. 9am-5pm. Admission for some activities. Furniture Discovery Center (336) 887-3876 Unique museum simulating a modern furniture factory illustrating how furniture is manufactured. Also famous Kupjack miniature bedrooms, Furniture Hall of Fame, a talking tree, and other special exhibits. Educational, hands-on exhibits appeal to visitors of all ages. North Carolina Shakespeare Festival Headquartered in High Point at the High Point Theater, season runs from August through October with a special performance of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in December.
