Top-quality health care is top of mind in Elgin, with two highly regarded hospitals serving the community:
 
• Provena St. Joseph Hospital – part of the Provena Health integrated system of hospitals, clinic and home health agencies.
 
• Sherman Health – one of the largest networks of medical facilities in the northwest suburbs. Ground was broken on June 2006 on a new facility scheduled to open in 2009 that will replace the current Sherman Hospital. That building will be redeveloped into a family-friendly outpatient and immediate care facility.
