Liberty Lakes is set against a rolling terrain and the wooded area of the nearby Lakewood Forest Preserve, with a portion of the multi-use Millennium Trail running along the border of the community, which can be used for horseback riding, walking, jogging or cross-country skiing in winter.  In addition to the millennium Trail, Liberty Lakes also features an outdoor pavilion in the center of the community. During the summer, this area is a popular gathering space for family parties and neighborhood picnics.
